Apple increases its share in accessing the web from mobile devices

The struggle between the mobile operating systems is more fierce than ever. Fortune has published an interesting entry with the results of two websites specialized in tracking the different accesses to the web, StatCounter and Net Applications. According to both companies, the presence of mobile devices from Apple on the Web has increased by 33.6% since July, but the conclusions they draw are both quite different.

iOS vs Android

NET Applications tracked 40,000 websites and ponders the results according to population statistics. In its latest report indicates that IOS dominates the mobile Internet access with a 61.64% share, having risen 7 points in the month of October. Its best competitor, Android, has a 19% share, and has just overcome a Java ME as second operating system on the number of accesses to the internet from mobile devices.

Meanwhile StatCounter which has its headquarters in Dublin, monitors 3 million web sites, but does not weight the results, but simply provide the data they collect. In its latest report, Symbian continues to dominate as the first mobile operating system even though there is a decline in share, while there is a strong growth of iOS and Android, which are dangerously close to the figures of the operating system from Nokia.

StatCounter has also reported on the strong growth 33.6% of iOS in the past four months. StatCounter says that Android growth rate is somewhat lower than Apple.

As they say in Fortune, iOS is the operating system of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, devices that have proven to be quite friendly and that favor the casual Web surfing. As we saw last month that iPhone has 97.3% of data traffic in the United States. Since there is no equivalent of the iPod Touch in Android, and because the tablets with Android not just take off, IOS has an advantage in these fields.

However this is something that Fortune said there was strong growth in mobile phones with Android, and Samsung is already the leading manufacturer of mobile phones worldwide so the fight is really close [Fortune]
